What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy
is a broad category of therapies ranging from analytical (dealing with reasons why) to cognitive (dealing with thought patterns) interventions.
Any therapy
is only as good as the person who practices and the personal experience and understanding of your therapist will inform
any intellectual ability they might use to help you resolve your problems and issues.
My philosophy
recognises that many diseases are caused by being existentially isolated and alone. To heal we need to connect up with
our hearts and minds, extend this to our communities, and develop a sense of belonging. This is in fact developing our
spirituality. A good therapist will facilitate you finding a greater context for your life, encouraging you to
find answers and solutions that suit your own belief system, that work within it, and that help develop your own unique purpose
and place in your community.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Many people are cautious as to how much control they will give up by being 'hypnotised'. Will they know
what they are saying? Will they reveal something about themselves they want kept secret? Will they lose control?
You never lose
control during hypnotherapy. With your eyes closed and your mind more inwardly focused, you simply have the opportunity,
with skilled guidance, to use your imagination to process what you need to process. There is no magic, no loss of control,
no hocus pocus and invariably no memory loss. You are conscious throughout.
Without the
overwhelming input from our eyes and, without the need to attend to being in a social setting with your therapist, you will
see tendencies and patterns that have always been with you, but are usually just beyond the reach of the conscious mind.
This is where the power of hypnosis lies. You get to see what you need to see for your health and welfare. These experiences
can be profoundly life changing.

I work in Gwent in my office at my home in Fleur de lis nr Blackwood. Since as long as I can
remember, I've asked the question, 'Why?' never satisfied until I have understood at a deeper level the cause and effect relationship
in events.
It is not easy to be someone who asks why as often as I have. It has left me seeking meaning
and purpose beyond that which I can see around me. Nowadays, I am understanding and learning all the time not only
from my experience but from my clients. Everything I learn enriches my therapeutic options with my clients.
I first asked a subconscious 'Why?' as young child and then as a teenager as the relationships and
events surrounding me did not make sense in my young mind. I continued through my working life asking 'Why?' and meeting different people in my life and my studies have helped me understand 'Why?'.
Life's events continued to push and pull me, here then there, and still 'Why?' was being asked.
After joining the Probation Service and starting private practice
'Why?' is still a question I ask, only nowadays the answers are more accessible than they were in the early days of
confusion and purpose seeking. As a hypnotherapist and psychotherapist, I understand my purpose to be to bring people
to their own understanding of their 'Why's?' in life so that they can learn to ask and answer the question for themselves.
In this way, we learn to build-in self-reliance, faith/belief in one's own ability to function, and hope that the future will
be, as we want it to be.
I am enthralled working with people of all kinds with varying difficulties and presenting issues.
I look forward to meeting you and working
with you on your own answers for who you are and who you want to be.
